Playtime Paris AW14

Posted on in BABY AND KIDS FASHION by Tracey Samuel

It's always a pleasure to return to Paris, and this January was no exception, we were returning to the Playtime Paris trade fair at the Parc Floral near Chateaux Des Vincennes for the fourth time to show our Autumn Winter 2014 collection. The show is a 3 day extravaganza of all things fashionable for babies, kids and even pregnant mums. its also a good excuse for me to practice my now rusty French!! By the end of day 1, my french was back and flowing and new customers were loving our range of knits and jerseys in Organic cottons and cashmere blends. We saw cutomers from all four corners of the earth, S Korea, to the USA, Australia to Germany, Japan, Italy and France to name but a few. Next winter we have Panda motifs, geometric fairisles and more fab bunny prints to keep your little one wrapped up warm and cosy. The three days of the show went in a blur of lovely food, nice wine and meeting lots of fabulous people, soon it was time to pack it all up and return home on the eurotunnel. We arrived home tired buy happy and cant wait to return in June.

Children in Need - fundraising ideas

Posted on in DAYS OUT WITH THE KIDS by Aye Mya Oo

It’s that time of year again – Children in Need is back! And with only 4 days until the big event, we’ve been searching for some of the best fundraising ideas & activities that you can do with the kids.

But first things first, you must fund raise in style. We love these exclusive dotty tights by Country Kids, for ages 6 mths to 8 yrs, being sold especially to raise money for Children in Need and think they go perfectly with our Organic Cotton Rainbow Collection.

Visit Cootchie-Coo to get your hands your own pair of exclusive CiN tights, and shop our Organic Rainbow Collection here.

A popular Children in Need fundraising idea for the kids is bake sales, and if you haven’t already been invited to one, the likelihood is you will be. So why not try your hand at making these adorable Pudsey cookies –  they are extremely easy to make (thanks to Lakeland’s exclusive range of Pudsey baking tools) meaning the children can help every step of the way. Sticking with the rainbow theme, we just love these super effective rainbow cupcakes that are guaranteed to stand out at any bake sale. Give them both a go and make sure you tweet us @bonniebaby_uk with how they turn out!

See the Children in Need website here or  Maison Cupcake’s handy step by step guide to the pudsey cookie baking instructions and visit Sprinkle Bakes for instructions on the rainbow cakes.

If you happen to be in London, why not take the kids to see the ‘Very Important Pudsey’ Collection being displayed in St.Pancreas Station. These bears have been designed by the likes of Coldplay, Sir Paul McCartney, and Dame Helen Mirren and we just love how stylish they are.

To find out more about how you can get involved, or to download your very own fundraising pack, visit the Children in Need website here. And don’t forget to tweet us @bonniebaby_uk to let us know of what you and your kids are doing to raise money for this great charity.

Halloween DIY - paint a pumpkin!

Posted on in KIDS CRAFT IDEAS by Bonnie baby Ltd

With Halloween falling in the same week as half term we thought it would be the perfect time to get a little creative and try something new. We’ve stumbled across the amazing new trend of pumpkin painting and think its a brilliant alternative to the usual pumpkin carving – and a great way to introduce some stylish as well as spooky decorations this year. Keep an eye on our blog this week for more Halloween posts.

A right Royal Christening!

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

Yesterday at 3 months old, Prince George Alexander Louis made his second official appearance since his birth for his Royal Christening. Breaking tradition once again, Will & Kate choose to hold the private low key ceremony in the Chapel Royal at St. James Palace instead of Buckingham Palace, with only their closest friends and family attending. This seems to have disappointed a lot of the crowds who had gathered to get a glimpse of the baby and his family.

Whilst most speculation was surrounding what Kate was wearing (as always), we were waiting to see little George in his intricate lace and satin gown – a replica of the one made for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter Victoria in 1841.

The marmite effect, the Christening gown- Love or hate it?

Whilst most speculation was surrounding what Kate was wearing (as always), we were waiting to see the other GOWN! George was in an intricate lace and satin gown – a replica of the one made for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter Victoria in 1841.

This look almost seemed out of place in the otherwise modern and laid back feel of the day. Personally we’re not big fans of these types of gowns, preferring something a little more subtle and easy to wear, or an outfit that can be worn again.

What do you think about it?

If you and your little one have a christening baptism or naming ceremony coming up, or simply want to celebrate the royal christening in style, here’s our top picks from our collection that in our opinion would make a perfect alternative christening, baptism or naming ceremony outfit.

Keepy - A fantastic new App

Posted on in KIDS CRAFT IDEAS by Bonnie baby Team

keepy-logo (1)

It’s not often that I see an app and think ‘I wish I’d thought of that’. Last week I found ‘Keepy’ and now I’m hooked, not only does it do a really useful job, it also relieves a bit of that ‘Mothers Guilt’.

Keepy, is essentially a digital fridge door for you to display your child’s macaroni masterpieces. Through the app you are able to take a photo of their artwork/schoolwork (well pretty much anything you or they are proud of!), frame it, put it into your child’s own gallery, and share with their ‘fans’ – namely grandparents, aunts, uncles and doting godparents!

Being well and truly in to the school year now, the reams of artwork and other creations being brought home by my 2  kids (Alice Bee 8, and Rhys 6) are already stacked in piles and slowly working their way towards the recycling bin (that’s where the Mothers guilt bit comes in).

What I think is lovely about this App is the unique narrative function through which the kids can add a video message to their picture giving it a story which relatives can then respond to with their own – creating a sort of interactive memory box and relieving me of having to ask the ever awkward question of ‘So…what is it?’ after telling them how brilliant it is!

Keepy is one of the most innovative children’s apps I’ve stumbled across, and myself, Alice and Rhys, and their grandparents are loving using it. Being able to date each post means I’m also really excited to sit down with the kids at the end of the school year and reflect upon all the great things they accomplished and how they have improved!

Penguins on Parade

Posted on in BABY AND KIDS FASHION by Bonnie baby Team

We have had an invasion of Penguins from the polar north this week!

Meet or lovely penguin motif intarsias, jaquards and appliques in sweaters for baby and kids, playsuits, Onesies and super soft luxury baby blankets.

Garbo&friends is the brainchild of founder Susann K Nemirovsky, a wonderful storytelling illustrator, her designs have a focus on storytelling prints with a playful spirit, to encourage and inspire the minds of children. The brand launched at Playtime Paris in the summer of 2012, and attracted the attention of press and buyers alike, winning the Milk Magazine ‘Coup de Coeur’ award. Bonnie baby designer Tracey Samuel, discovered garbo&friends at Playtime Paris, and instantly fell in love with the beautiful playful prints and colour combinations. She called Susann and found that the two designers shared many common design ideals. They decided to work on a collaboration project, bringing garbo&friends ‘bubbles’ print together with the Bonnie baby handwriting of jersey and knit. The result is a wonderful capsule collection of garments for baby and child, including reversible baby snowsuits with detachable mittens and booties, reversible jackets for baby and children, and blouse and legging sets for baby.

Bonnie Days out - Go wild

Bonnie Days Out – Go Wild

The summer holidays are on the horizon and for many, this means planning a number of family friendly days out. Stuck for ideas? We’d like to share some of the many Bonnie Days Out that the UK has to offer.

In this, the very first post of the series, we are looking at some of the best family friendly wildlife and nature pursuits that the UK has to offer.

A Day At The Zoo

For around 300 years, days at the zoo have been a British family favourite; as a result British zoos are pretty darn good! Not only do they have a range of exotic animals that would rival the African Savanna but they also actively encourage children’s interaction and education through wildlife talks and participation in feeding times. Visit Britain has put together this handy list of the top 10 zoos in Britain

Down at the Seaside

The mere mention of the seaside often conjures up strong feelings of nostalgia and childhood memories of family holidays spent at the beach. Living on an island we’re never too far away from a British seaside resort. Why not plan a day at the seaside with the family, crabbing, exploring rock pools or building sandcastles?

Once again we have looked to Visit Britain to give the low down on British Beaches that are proactively family friendly. Bournmouth Beach for example have a ‘Kidzone scheme’ whereby children are given coloured wristbands depending on which segment of the beach they are playing on so that they can be easily identified if they happen to wander off. New Quay beach on the other hand is the most likely beach resort for spotting dolphins and other amazing sealife.

 See the full list here

Woodland Nature Walks

Stretch your children’s’ imagination with a themed nature walk at your local woodlands. Several activities run over the summer for children to discover Fairy Gardens, follow the Gruffalo trail or join a Teddy Bears Picnic. Wilderness Wood is a family run sustainable woodland in Sussex with a full program of events for families to participate in all year round

Our Mum in the Big Apple - April Adventures

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

Our latest adventure was to American Girl on 5th Ave! American Girl is a doll that is perfect for your little girl from picking her eye, skin & hair color.

Olivia and Max at the American Girl Store and Cafe.

Olivia wearing 'WENDI' summer dress and Max wearing 'DREW' cardigan

We went for lunch at their fabulous American Girl Cafe with Olivia's closest friends and her brother. Lunch is served on pristine white linen with daisy center pieces. Your American girl sits next to you in high chair and has her own cup saucer & treat.....yes you read right...each doll sits next to your little girl - only in NYC! It is an amazing store and we walked round for an hour before lunch and Olivia was treated to summer dress for her American Girl, she actually has Bitty Baby which is a range at American Girl. Olivia is hoping for an American Girl from Santa!!! Should this be rather exhausting for you there is a light at the end of the tunnel.....SAKS FITH AVE is right next door!!!

Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair

The fantastic Tribeca Film Festival comes to our neighborhood every year in April. This year I saw a fantastic movie called Mobius with the ridiculously handsome Jean Dujardin.

Olivia and Max making sure they have the best views at the Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair

TFF very kindly put on the Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair. It is a fantastic street fair and family celebration, with a lots of FREE activities, performances and experiences from film making experience, Bubble Garden, Refreshments, bouncy castle to name a few. Family Agnew spent the whole day there in the glorious sunshine!

Olivia and Max had a great time taking part in the games and activities at the street fair

Olivia's pre-school put on a fantastic street fair, all the proceeds go to the much-needed funds to support ongoing teacher' development and to provide scholarship opportunities to deserving families. They shut down Duane Street and had an array of fabulous stalls and fantastic performances. Olivia loved the magician called 'The Amazing Max'. He had the attention of an audience of under 4's, I occasionally found myself getting caught up in the act too.

Brighton Festival - Our top picks

Brighton festival is great for a family day out. Read our blog post for our picks for a great Family day out:

Tony De Saulles' Horrible Drawing Workshop: Sat 25th May, The Old Market

If you like drawing the disgusting and illustrating the inexpressible, this fun family cartoon-drawing workshop is for you. Tony De Saulles, the illustrator of the award winning Horrible Science series, will be giving loads of horrible cartooning tips while you sketch. Learn about deadly dinasoaurs, find out how to bring a lavatory to life. There'll be plenty of other foul facts to inspire your own yukky masterpiece, which you will be able to take home to colour in. And you might even get to keep one of Tony's drawings too.

Flathampton:  Thu 9 May – Sun 12 May, various times, Brighton Dome Corn Exchange

Imagine the biggest playmat in the world. Now imagine that you live in the town marked out on it.

Over 90 joyously playful minutes, children and families meet the residents of Britain's flattest town and help them turn Flathampton into a fully three-dimensional world. An interactive experience for primary age children, young and older, to enjoy with their friends and families.

Varmints: Tue 21 & Wed 22 May, Tue 6pm, Wed 1.30pm  & 6pm, The Old Market, Hove

Once there was only the sound of bees and the wind in the grass, the murmuring of moles deep underground and the song of birds in the sky. But every day the city grows larger and louder, until there is so much noise that no-one can hear themselves think. One small creature is determined to preserve a world in danger of being lost forever, to fight for peace and quiet...

This new dance-theatre show based on the award- winning book by Helen Ward and Marc Craste is a poignant and inspiring experience for anyone over the age of eight.

Here are my favourite things about NYC for children and adults alike.....

Best for Kids

Our Mum in The Big Apple - Holiday Adventures

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Team

It has been a while to say the least, we have been busy with the holidays, trips away and general celebration of life.

This is the second year that I have taken Olivia to see a Christmas special matinee performance of the Nutcracker at the Lincoln Center danced by the NYC Ballet. It was a special magical occasion and lots of kids were there with their parents. Olivia coped OK with the 3 hour performance!!!!

Olivia wore her Special Occasion Dress to see the NYC Ballet perform The Nutcracker, this dress is now in our SALE.

The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens put on a charming train show every year over the Christmas period in their conservatory. The Conservatory showcases more than 140 scaled iconic buildings and structures under thousands of twinkling lights. Artistically crafted by Paul Busse's team at Applied Imagination, the landmarks are made of natural materials such as bark, twigs, stems, fruits, seeds, and pine cones and include the original Penn Station and Yankee Stadium, Radio City Music Hall, St. Patrick's Cathedral, The New York Public Library on 42nd Street, and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Max and Olivia enjoyed the miniture landmarks at the Botanical Gardens

On special weeks they also have a special 'Thomas and Friends Show' where the kids get to watch a performance on stage and then finally meet the amazing Thomas. To say the least Max was off the charts excited.

After a show we decided to embark into the Bronx and stumbled along Arthur Ave which is the Little Italy of the Bronx, we ate the most amazing pizza and brought home 10 Cannoli's and mini Tiramasu's (YUM!!!).

Remember charmed summer days and starry nights when the circus or the funfair came to town? Up went the Big Top, on went the Circus lights and in came the acrobats, animals, clowns and lion tamers for a magical evening of entertainment................

The circus is the inpiration for our Spring Summer 2013 collection. Think all the fun of the fair with wonderful colours, characters and candy stripes.

Please take your seats and let us introduce you to Ellie the Elephant, Marley the Lion and Bertie the Bird, the circus ringmaster. These fantastic fun and loveable characters appear on a range of T-shirts, babysuits and baby blankets either as applique, prints or knitted motifs.

There is also a range of circus inspired prints: candy striped cottons feature on a range of childrens dresses, tops and matching shorts; a cotton print sprinkled with confetti apples in mouthwatering fairground colours adorns a range of dresses, tops and tutu skirts - given extra sparkle with gold waistbands.

The other theme for Spring Summer 2013 is the 'Mini Explorer'. Armed with a magnifying glass, we have gone exploring in the garden and discovered a world of daisy chains, spiders in their webs and enchanted forests.

Our signature knitted details run throughout the collection. Marley the Lion has a splendid knitted mane and there are little knitted touches such as frills on a jersey T or contrasting knit covered buttons. All the items in this collection are designed to mix and match..........

A very Bonnie Christmas

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Team

Bonnie baby London Founder Tracey has put together a Christmas wishlist for her and her family.

A bit about Tracey:

“My Name is Tracey Samuel, I am the founder and designer of Bonnie Baby, a baby and childrenswear brand based in Brighton. I started my career designing womens knitwear for luxury labels in Paris, and worked with Sonia Rykiel for over 8 years. I became pregnant in 2004 and realised that my Brighton-Paris commute would not be conducive to life with a new baby! So I started looking for a new idea to keep me busy while I was looking after my new daughter.”

" I wanted to put together a Christmas Wishilist - what better way to do my Xmas shopping and get into the Xmas spirit! I went off armed with my ipad, glass of wine, visions of a nice evening checking out things I like online, what could be simpler? 2 weeks later, several bottles of wine, quite a bit of chocolate and a few late nights, I realized I had a pinterest board of around 400 random things, I was now faced with the edit… So, after much whittling, here it is, my Xmas edit for all things Bonnie.”

For my son Rhys:

I have found some really lovely foxy things for Rhys to get excited about this xmas.

I cant quite shake my fox obsession this season, if you’ve seen our best selling Fox sweater and jacket you will know why. £37.50

Henry the Fox from the adorable WALNUT ANIMAL society, ok its $95, but what other toy comes with his own tailored tweed waistcoat?

I’ve been in love with the Mibo paper cut out animal for a while now, so was really pleased to see they have put their mark on some great accessories. Rhys is going to look great on the school run with this. £29.50

For my daughter, Alice Bee:

I’ve come up with a good way to recycle my old IPhone, and get a kids toy all in one, I’m going to load up my old iphone with music and games, and give it a funky kids cover, some bright pink headphones, et voila perfect gift for a 7 year old girl. It will go really well  with her Bonnie Baby hat and scarf set that she’s wearing at the moment ( and yes that’s her modeling) £5.79 £21 for the set

And now down to the important part.

What do I hope to be finding under the tree this Christmas? Let’s hope my husband Gareth is reading this…

I’ve been in love with Raoul for some time now, they have some great classics, this handbag reminds me of living in Paris and all the very chic ladies for some reason!!! Maybe its time for me to become a chic lady? £258

Back to my fox obsession mixed with my Etsy obsession. Aren’t these brooches from Sketch inc just fab, a great way to break up a serious black outfit with a bit of fun. £10.80

And just for pure indulgence, I would love love, love, love one of these beautiful copper ipod docking horns from En and Is, I think it is one of the most beautiful/practical design pieces I’ve seen in a long time, and apparently they sound good too! 599 Euros

Onto the festivities

My dream outfit for the Christmas Party, this Preen dress, I’ve been a fan of theirs for some time, and their dresses are so flattering. £1280

worn along with these beauties from Edmundo Castillo, I have just found him recently, but love the colour blocking. £548.96

For my Xmas day outfit, it has got to be comfort first,

and this Stella McCartney knit dress fits the bill completely £660

Finally, I will be hanging as many of these gorgeous pom pom garlands as I can manage to fit in my living room! 12.95 Euros per set.

So here it is, a Bonnie Christmas to you all,

Love Tracey xxx

Cuddle Me Cashmere

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

As a parent, Tracey (Bonnie baby London Founder and Designer) knows that it’s the simple practicalities in life that make being a parent that little bit easier. Which is why she developed a unique blend of cashmere yarn, called ‘Cuddle Me’ exclusively for Bonnie baby London.

Cuddle Me cashmere’ is made by blending 55% of the finest cashmere yarn with 45% super soft cotton. The Cotton stabilizes the cashmere and thus reduces the shrinkage in washing; it also adds a cooler feel to the yarn making it wearable all year round, and perfect for keeping your baby at a comfortable temperature. Cuddle me is a truly unique cashmere that can be machine washed at 30 degrees, giving parents luxury they can live with.

Cuddle Me Cashmere part of our Bonnie Gold Collection

The Cuddle me collection form the core of the Bonnie Gold collection, it has been in the range since the very beginning and is being constantly reinvented and developed.  Tracey’s own son Rhys still goes to sleep with his Cuddle Me cashmere blanket, and after many years and many mishaps and washes it is still looking great, and feeling wonderfully soft!

The Cuddle Me cashmere collection includes baby suits, baby blankets, baby hats, scratch mittens and new born gift cards complete with a pair of cashmere booties. All styles are available in 3 great colours and come in sizes 0-3m, 3-6m and 6-12m.

Our Cashmere baby boots are packaged on a lovely Congratulations gift card making a great baby gift

So why not Buy once, buy well, and pass these items on to other babies in your family once your little one has outgrown it.

Our Mum In - London's Japanese Food Festival

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

Recently in London it was a gloriously sunny day, so along with our house guests - a friend from Brighton and her little boy - Maria and I headed to Japan Matsuri at Trafalgar Square to soak up some free al fresco culture. At least, that's how I sold it to my friend, really I just fancied grazing on Japanese food all day.

Matsuri is Japanese for festival or holiday. Cue a scene of live music, food stalls, martial arts and quirky toys. The sound of female taiko drummers heralded everyone's arrival to London's 4th annual celebration of all things Japanese. An all-female troupe from Okinawa systematically banged their hige, wide drums, their wide smiles neveer-fading. We played water ball games, Kingyo Sakui and Mizu Yo Yo, and furious then it was time for brunch.

Maria had fun dancing to the drummers, Her Giant Panda T very apt for the festival

Little huts lined the perimeters of the square, we joined to the longest queue and bought five chicken dumplings. These didn't go down so well with the kids who seemed to prefer waving stick flags distributed by zealous airline staff. We sampled delicious sushi parcels while watching kendoka in protective armour practice kendo. Then, after drooling over a stanger's rice-rolled shrimps we followed our Japanese friend to the Okonomiyaki stall. Okonomi means 'what you like' and yaki means grilled or cooked. To a Westerner pretty much uneducated in Japan's culinary specialities it was a doughy, cabbagey, filling example of Japanese street food. A bit like a pizza with a topping the texture of cheese, but was in fact a sauce of some sort.

Maria mastered her chopsticks ! Maria wearing our GIANT PANDA T-SHIRT and OLLLIE SKIRT

I was proud that Maria mastered her chopsticks without spilling anything onto her lovely Bonnie baby London Panda T-shirt. The kids grabbed a fountain-side pew for dessert: green tea ice-cream. We were expecting it to have a bitter off-putting after-taste but no, it was green and tasted different, but to kids, its still ice-cream. Win ! Maria loved the food overall, evidently we're ready for a family trip to our local award-winning Japanese restaurant.

The Life of a Bonnie baby

Posted on in BABY AND KIDS FASHION by Bonnie baby Team

At Bonnie baby London we are truly proud of the quality of our products: Buy once, buy well and pass it down.

We have decided to put this point to the test with our new blog ‘The Life of a Bonnie baby’ where our lovely photographer Claudine and little Harrison put our products to the test.

                                Claudine and Harrison

I run my freelance Photography Company ‘Moments captured’ shooting weddings, portraits and of course Bonnie baby children! I also Co run a company called ‘Organic Monkey’, Organic and Fairtrade skincare for babies.

I have two lovely children: Dylan 3 years and Harrison 3 months! I live in Hove near Brighton after living in London for 12 years. I’m a self confessed London lover but the sea wins every time.

I spend most of my time juggling work and life commitments and trying to be creative all the time!

When I am not running about after Dylan who’s at a testing age I’m working in a studio in West London or taking photos for Bonnie baby London (!) or at home with my business partner Heidi concocting up another formulation for Organic Monkey Skincare.

My family loves to travel so were always planning the next holiday or experience abroad. We are currently looking at a sailing holiday next year in the Mediterranean and I’m visiting New York to shoot a wedding.

Bonnie baby London gifted me a supersoft machine washable cashmere baby blanket along with some other gorgeous children’s clothing, Harrison is the best dressed boy in Hove!

Here is Harrisons first instalment looking snug as a bug with his machine washable cashmere blanket, its perfect for in the house and it keeps him warm when we are out and about with the baby carrier.

There is a great selection of baby blankets online, take a look by following this link.

Our Mum in The Big Apple - Fall Adventures

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

After a long summer we are back to school. Olivia is entering her second year at Washington Market preschool, Tribeca. Here are some snaps of us looking beyond excited that school is back.

Olivia wearing a cotton cardigan from our Spring Summer 2012 collection

So our first adventure this Fall was taking the kids & dog to their very first Baseball game. Yes, you read right.......our dog - only in NYC! My husband is a fan of the Mets and twice a year the team host 'Bark in the Park' where you can bring your dog to a game.

Olivia at the Mets stadium, wearing a cute layered Chambray skirt 'Ollie' teamed with a Tian Tian the Panda T-shirt.

Are Olivia and I fans of Baseball not so much, but we got right into the spirit of things ant ate Hot Dogs, Popcorn and drank soda! Other spectators were asking Olivia if she liked baseball and response was 'do you like my new outfit' (Giant Panda T-shirt and Ollie Skirt)! Poor Christopher but thank goodness he has Max who loved the baseball and clapped when the Mets scored a home run.

To really appreciate Fall we took a trip to Central Park. We live Downtown and it is rare to venture past 14th St, but for the next few weeks, Central Park's 21,500 trees will turn stunning shades of red, gold, orange and brown. Olivia & Max explored this glorious park on a sunny day and we traced the fallen leaves and threw them in the air to celebrate Fall! The kids enjoyed The Famed Central Park Carousel, with its sweet calliope music and 57 magnificent horses, is the forth to stand in Central Park since 1871.

Olivia and Max having fun in Central Park. Olivia wears Cotton Cashmere 'Fiona' dress. Max wears 'Foxy' Cotton Cashmere sweater. All items available online.

It's a great Halloween tradition to attend a Pumpkin Patch. It was a fun packed day at Whitepost Farm. The kids rolled pumpkins around and enjoyed Hay Rides, Magic Shows and ate Apple Pies!

At the Pumpkin Patch! Olivia wearing 'Wynne' T-shirt. Available in 3 colours.

Georgie picks her favourite pieces

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

Georgie Coleridge Cole is the Founder of, the definitive and interactive guide to online shopping helping consumers find fine, fashionable, stylish and luxurious brands, products and designer goods available to purchase online. Georgie has long been a fan of Bonnie baby London and each season she shares her favourite picks from our seasonal collection.

Georgie on Autumn Winter 2012

If you’ve been reading my Mummy Diaries blog for a while then you’ll know that Bonnie baby London is a firm favourite of mine. It is run by a lovely lady with great taste named Tracey. When Tracey heard that I had Otto she very kindly sent him a gorgeous outfit (the Luca Bodysuit) and sweetly didn’t forget Coco and sent something for her too.

Coco looking adorable in her Sparkle Bow Dress

Coco loves shoes (especially clomping around the house in Daddy’s) and thankfully she loves dresses too. Together, this Sparkle Bow Dress is our new favourite.

Thank you Tracey, what a wonderful A/W collection, I adore the FOXY and PANDA jumpers and the BUNNY soft toys are divine.

Here are my top picks from Bonnie baby London’s Autumn Winter 2012 collection:

  •     Beau Booties – a great little pressie if you have a budget
  •     Sparkle Dress (As seen on Coco) – just heaven, trendy but not too much

1.Bonnie Bunny 2. Beau booties 3. Buddy baby blanket 4. Jen hat 5. Freya leggings 6. Luca babysuit 7. Panda and Fox sweaters 8. Venus cashmere trousers 9. Sparkle cardigan 10. Sparkle Bow dress

All items from the Autumn Winter collection are now available online in sizes up to 5 years.

On Trend for Autumn Winter 2012

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

Autumn Winter 2012 has arrived, its time to look at how Bonnie baby London are on trend for this season...........

One of the many themes on the womenswear catwalks was the use of colour blocking, but in a more understated way than for previous seasons. Varying tones of grey were used to create elegant mixtures of texture and colour. At Dior this translated into colour blocked seperates in pretty muted colours. Very much like our Daisy cotton cashmere dress in Grey/Pink. In similar delicate shades of creme and pink there is the Sparkle Bow cotton dress, ideal for parties.

1. Daisy cotton cashmere dress 2 Sparkle Bow cotton dress. Both styles in sizes up to 5 years

Alongside greys, bursts of colour were found with mustard and yellow shades, seen at Lanvin and Akris. To add a hint of yellow to an outfit, there is the Drew hat and Dylan scarf in tonal shades of yellow and creme.

Drew cotton cashmere hat, Dylan cotton cashmere scarf

Ever popular, bright flashes of hot pink brightened up the catwalk, seen at Anna Sui and Kenzo. Using a mixture of knits and wovens to make up fun and colourful outfits for the winter months. For a similar pop of colour, why not try our sweet Panda babysuit in Pink.

For the boys, things are looking bright for Autumn Winter 2012. Stripes have long been a Bonnie baby London staple, and they were seen in bold colours at Marc Jacobs and Boy by band of outsiders. Always popular, shades of blue were everywhere, including Paul and Joe and Paul Smith. For some key striped pieces we have the Morag cardigan in lovely soft lambswool or the classic Devon jumper in a cosy cotton cashmere blend.

1. Farrah cotton cashmere sweater 2. Morag lambswool cardigan 3. Devon cotton cashmere sweater 4. Fallon cotton cashmere cardigan. All items available in sizes up to 5 years.

Another trend for Autumn Winter 2012 was the use of fairisle patterns, used at APC to add detail to traditional jumpers. The Bonnie baby London interpretations inludes a lively palette of yellows and blues against a soft grey base, as seen in the Farrah cotton cashmere sweater.

With the weather cooling down, it's time to pick up (put on) that trusted Autumn Winter staples - the jumper. This season plain jumpers have been given a quirky twist with animal motifs, seen at Mulberry, David Koma and Paul + Joe. For the Bonnie baby London take we have the fox jacket and the Panda jumpers to keep you was all through winter.

Vogue have spied the best womenswear around this season

1. Foxy cotton cashmere sweater 2. Panda cotton cashmere sweater 3. Foxy cotton cashmere jacket 4. Panda cotton cashmere jacket. All in sizes up to 5 years

Bonnie baby in the London Spotlight................

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Team

London seems to have been at the centre of everyone’s attention this summer; first we saw the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and that fabulous regatta down the Thames, and how can any of us forget the London 2012 Olympics?!   With the start of the Paralympics on August 29th, the London spotlight is still going strong and will continue for a good while to come.

Whilst in London the tourist hotspots are definitely worth a visit, and by that we mean the great shopping opportunities that the city has to offer.  Bonnie baby are proud to say that our luxury baby products are stocked in many of these iconic stores and we give you here our very own Bonnie baby store guide.

3: Fenwick, New Bond Street

Fenwick Bond Street first opened in 1891, offering bespoke fashion for ladies. Although the selection of goods now includes menswear, beauty and home accessories and of course our new Bonnie baby collection, it remains a key destination for the fashion cognoscenti with quirky, fledgling labels stocked alongside international designers. Services include personal shopping, a beauty studio, an espresso bar, a bustling cafe and a chic restaurant.

4: Selfridges, Bond Street London

You will find various Selfridges stores across the UK, but it goes without saying that the Flagship London store is by far the most impressive.   More than just a shopping destination the store offers everything from art exhibitions to parties on the rooftop (The views are worth a visit alone).

The store is constantly evolving; most recently the children’s department has been re-imagined and extended, ideal for some serious pre-school shopping.

The Launch of our FLAGSHIP STORE

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

All of us at Bonnie baby are proud to announce the launch of our first stand-alone store, which opened in Hong Kong today!

Bonnie baby London Flagship store exterior

The store is located in the Peninsula Arcade at the prestigious The Peninsula hotel. It is the first baby and childrenswear store to be invited into the arcade, which is home to over 80 luxury shops including Chanel, Michael Kors and Prada.

The simple design of the furniture compliments the fun Bonnie baby designs

Bonnie baby founder and designer Tracey Samuel and her furniture designer husband Gareth Griffiths conceived the design concept for the Bonnie baby store. Together the design duo came up with a store concept that is inspired by classic British furniture brands of the 1960’s, bough up to date with Gareth’s signature style – modern furniture incorporating traditional elements such as a quality and attention to detail. The store is timeless, clean and simple – the perfect backdrop for Bonnie baby’s vibrant, colourful designs.

You will find many perfect luxury baby gifts instore

Designed to be tactile and soft, fittings have been made in a soft oak and a rose gold coloured metal with white glass lacquer while large metal hanging rails incorporate Bonnie baby’s apple logo.

Items from our Autumn Winter 2012 collection are available in store

The overall feel is typically British, whilst incorporating fun elements such as a rocking horse sheep. The lighting in store is from handmade ceramic “Early Bird” lights, designed by New Yorker Amy Adams and supplied by Danish lifestyle brand Alma’s Room.

Luxury newborn baby gifts and our lovely lighting!

Tracey says: “We are so excited to launch our first stand alone store, in one of the most prestigious locations in Hong Kong.  I have been travelling to Hong Kong for nearly 20 years with my different design positions and have come to think of it as a home from home. I love the vibrancy of the city and the people and am thrilled it’s the location of our first store.”

Items from our Bonnie bundle gifting range, available in store

Gareth says: “Bonnie baby stores will be launching across Hong Kong and China over the next few years, so one of the most important considerations was flexibility of design. It was important to have a softness to the design that children will appreciate and above all, the design had to compliment Tracey’s designs.

Our Mum in The Big Apple an Adventure to The Plaza and Fao Schwartz

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Team

School is out and Olivia and her best friend, Philomena, are off to have afternoon tea with Eloise, the Plaza Hotel's most famous resident!

Eloise is a precocious, fictional young girl (sorry... lady) who's favorite colors are pink and 'more-pink'. Every few months, Eloise's young fans are allowed to come and play in her 2,000 sq. ft. apartment (as long as Mummy has booked far enough ahead).

The Girls could not wait to run riot in Eloise's apartment.

Befitting the occasion, our little City princesses are picked up in a Mercedes and chauffeured uptown to 59th street and 5th Avenue where The Plaza overlooks Central Park. The doormen doffed their hats to our little Manhattanites and ushered us up to Eloise's suite! Unfortunately Eloise is on vacation but she did leave specific instructions for all her guests to make themselves at home. Olivia and Philomena did not need to be asked twice; two very (over)excited girls charged round and round, into the dressing-up closet, the bookcase and the toy cupboard. After a couple of hours, everyone was in need of tea, cakes and of course pink lemonade! After story-time the girls posted a letter for Eloise thanking her for the fun afternoon. As we left the girls were gifted a pencil, a notepad and an Etiquette Book (hint, hint)!

Olivia and the Girls had a brilliant time in the dressing up box (but still left in her Bonnie baby dress), overloaded on cake and left with treats.

Loaded up with sugar we decided our next stop would be the world famous toy-store, FAO Schwarz, one block from the Plaza across 5th Ave.

The mummy's were sad to pass luxury department store, Bergdorffs, without going in, but the girls pure excitement to get into FAO Schwarz couldn't be delayed.

Olivia was so excited to visit the toy store and was instantly transfixed with Hello Kitty.

After dancing on the giant piano, made famous in the Tom Hanks movie 'Big', and which you can buy for a cool $250,000, everyone was treated to a We bought Olivia's brother & mini yellow taxi then headed back Downtown where we belong!!!

Olivia takes a tour of Fao Schwartz and sees that famous Piano and some giant lego creations. Olivia wears her Bonnie baby dress.

What great family child friendly activities in New York do you reccomend? Have you been to Fao Schwartz or Eloise's apartment at the Plaza? Leave your comments below...........

Products we LOVE - Organic Monkey

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

Here at Bonnie baby we have recently stumbled upon this brilliant range of products from Organic Monkey.

Organic Monkey has been set up by two entrepreneurial mums, Heidi Crawford and Claudine Sinnett, who identified a gap in the market for an organic range of baby skin care products. Their aim was to create beautiful products that are not only effective but organic, fair and made with the best quality ingredients and free from harmful toxins.

Before becoming a mum Heidi worked as a Business Manager for a large recruitment company. It was always her aim to set up her own business where, as well as being her own boss, would also be able to support her ethical and environmental values. She says, “My son Forrest was very sick when he was born. He suffered from birth asphyxia. He was given a very slim chance of survival and even worse odds of making a full recovery. He spent the first 8 days of his life on the special care baby unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. Whilst he has made remarkable progress, his development needs to be carefully monitored to ensure he reaches all his important milestones. When my request to return to work on a part-time basis was rejected I decided this would be my opportunity to set up my own company whilst also spend quality time with my son.

Heidi Managing Director says, “It is important to us to source both organic and Fair-trade ingredients to produce a range of pure, wholesome, quality products to nourish and protect the newest and most sensitive of skins, whilst also having a respect for nature and respectful partnerships with the farmers that produce the raw ingredients and throughout the supply chain.”

Claudine has been working as a professional photographer for the last 10 years alongside running her own studio/gallery. After completing a natural skin care course with Heidi, she decided to become involved with the set up of Organic Monkey. She says, “Dylan was born with eczema so finding a baby skincare product that didn’t irritate his skin was very important right from the beginning. After reading many of the labels on the everyday brands on the high street I was both worried and disappointed at how hard it was to find both organic and ‘free from’ products for babies. Surely it should be easier to look after your baby’s skin? So together with Heidi we have created a very special range of products for babies with sensitive skin like Dylan’s.

Claudine Creative Director explains, “Ingredients are at the heart of our products. Since becoming mums, we have been more and more interested in what goes into baby products, especially for their skin. We like to see what ingredients are used, how they work and even their packaging. Becoming mums has made us more ethically and socially aware.”

Organic Monkey offer a great range of skincare products for babies and have won many awards, the website is definitely worth a visit. Our favorite items have to be:

Hello Mellow Massage Oil: a delicate blend of nourishing organic oils to moisturise the skin with a hint of organic sweet orange, lavender and roman chamomile essential oils to aid well being and help soothe restlessness and hyperactivity.

125ml £12.00

Cheeky Monkey Cheek Rub for Teething is made up of a soothing blend of 100% organic ingredients combining Arnica, Sweet Almond, olive and Sunflower oils with organic Roman Chamomile, Lavender and Spearmint essential oils to help calm and relieve.

Our Mum In.....A provincial trip to Dorset

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

The sun's out and so is my camera, and off we go, touring the provincial county of Dorset, snapping grassy fields and talking to lovely campsite owners about trees, water closets and randy geese. Cool Camping, one of my gainful employers for the past 5 years, has assigned me a dozen campsites to review for their new book published in March, entitled Cool Camping Great Britain. Following Cool Camping's popular guides on England, Scotland and Wales, a British bible feels somewhat overdue.

Maria has packed a couple of her favourite Bonnie Baby dresses for the trip, and to avoid photographing her covered in face paint or ice-cream (I lose count of the number of times both of these come up in conversation), I managed to hide her outfits until she was clean and eager to pose.

Here we are then, at two of our favourite finds on this latest expedition. Both sites are off Ringwood on the Horton Road, barely a mile apart. This is a relaxing and thus ideal staycation spot. The air is so clean that my face constantly tingles as if it's been pampered with an indulgent face pack.

Happy Days is a new rental business on a traditional, beautifully-appointed caravan park that offers 50's-style blinging, original airstreams christened Gloria, Dee Dee, Betsy and such like. The interiors are pink, blue or red. We were given keys to the blushing pink Gloria for one night, and we loved her.

Maria wearing: RAINDROP jersey dress in greys, available in our SUMMER SALE

I cooked a nutritious feast on the gas cooker. We lazed on crochet cushions as the setting sun danced over the hedgerows opposite. We read stories on soft cotton beds. Maria tried her hand at fishing (sorry to the fishermen who were enjoying the peace until we came along) and I concluded that I can and do quite like caravan parks, after all.

A few days later, via a trip to Swanage and the many magnificent campsites dotted around Corfe Castle, we landed at Riverside Lakes, an old haunt that I just keep returning to. Maria scootered around the wooden decking of our mini-arena sized yurt while her grandmother and I cooked sausages. The hospitable owners generously hand out tractor rides and glow sticks. We ran among the wild blooms, stopping to master the rope tyre swing where the 'big girls' hang out, and we tickled piglets' tummies until we too were tickled pink… by their hilarious grunting.

Maria wearing: ALLEY cotton sundress, available in 2 colours and now part of our SUMMER SALE

For years I've been coming to this countryside haven – a mere 2 hour drive from London – so it was with quiet jubilation that I finally acquainted myself with Moors Valley Country Park. Entrance to the 750-acre forest park costs £5 for 2 hours parking or £8 for the day and unless you buy a trail card for £2, spend £5.50 for an adult and child return train ride, or book onto the treetop monkey wire climbing adventure, all activities including the cycling trails, Castle and Sandworks play area and wooden climbing structures, are free. For toddlers, the highlight is of course the mini steam train, toot! toot! Top tip: don't sit too near the front or you'll get soot on your lovely Bonnie Baby dress!

All of the items that Maria wore on her fabulous camping trip are now in the Bonnie baby SUMMER SALE which has up to 65% OFF and ENDS THIS WEEK, grab them while you can.

Our Mum in - The Big Apple

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

Olivia (3yrs), Max (1yr) and I, Genny (30 something) live in TriBeCa, NYC. I am British but my Kids and dog (Archie) are American.

I gave up my PR job in the music industry when I moved to NYC five years ago. Now I am Olivia and Max’ publicist, I work exclusively for them tending to their every needs. I chauffeur them round downtown Manhattan by foot to their many engagements from pre-school, soccer, swimming, music, play dates, park etc. thank goodness for my angel babysitter who helps me ensure their days run smoothly.

Genny, Max and Olivia. Olivia wearing 'ANYA' summer dress and Max wearing 'MR ROBOT' T-shirt and 'DARWIN' shorts

When I am not bolt sprinting round Manhattan with the bugaboo I like to workout, shop, watch Madmen and So You Think You Can Dance.

Olivia is off school for 3 months over the summer (sigh) we have little trips booked to Canada, Connecticut, South Carolina and the Hamptons as well as enjoying Manhattan and maybe Brooklyn! We Love NYC it is the most insane melting pot of people, performances, pizza places and picturesque views.

Oh I forgot to say I do have a baby Daddy his name is Christopher and is the love of my life and we have been married for 4 years!!

Adventure One – Max and Olivia head over to Brooklyn

NYC is super-hot and we are currently melting in the 100 degrees city heat! Olivia attends summer camp in the AM at Washington Market School, this afternoon we ventured over to DUMBO (down under the Manhattan Brooklyn overpass), Brooklyn.

We could of walked along the Brooklyn Bridge but we decide to cheat a little and walked down to South Seaport and caught a water taxi from Wall St/Pier 11 which brought us to DUMBO in 3 minutes!
First stop was Pier 1 Playground part of the Brooklyn Bridge Park. It  is perfect for my kids age (3 & 1)!

Genny, Max and Olivia. Olivia wearing 'ANYA' summer dress and Max wearing 'MR ROBOT' T-shirt and 'DARWIN' shorts

They swing, climb and have the best time and all on super spongy floor (love esp. for Max)!
Next we headed to Jane Carousel,  a rescued carousel from Ohio which was restored to its original elegance by Jane Walentas who lives in DUMBO.

The beautiful carousel is under a transparent box and has a fabulously set by the East River between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge! We love coming here as the pace of life is much calmer than Manhattan!
After all that we headed to Bubby's for an early dinner with the kids!  Bubby's has two locations, one Tribeca and second in DUMBO.

Good food, great kids menu and nice and laid back. We frequent more for brunch which is yummy!
Last stop before heading home, very well deserved cookies form One Girl Cookies. Lovely designed cookie store with delicious cookies. We walked away with 6 mini cookies, I managed to inhale 2 before I had even left the store!

Max wearing 'APPLE OF DADDY'S EYE' cashmere baby sweater

Before bedtime Olivia looked out of her window said goodnight to the carousel and Brooklyn bridge then conked out! Glass of red in hand for Mummy & trash TV - Happy Days!

Olympic Torch in Brighton

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

This summer has been full of great British festivities, with the Royal Jubilee behind us we now have the London 2012 Olympics to look forward to.

The Olympic Torch outside Brighton's Royal Pavilion

Yesterday evening we were lucky enough to get to see the Olympic torch relay make its way through Hove, passing many local landmarks and of course the iconic Brighton and Hove seafront.

The parade started in Hove Park which was full of great family activities and stalls, with all the children waving their flags. The atmosphere was great, the highlight was the changeover of the torch and the crowds making their way behind the convoy to the culmination at Hove Cricket Ground for an official evening of celebrations, including local band Rizzle Kicks.

The Olympic Torch at Hove Park

The torchbearers continued early this morning with the relay starting in front of the Royal Brighton Pavilion, passing the through the Old Steine and Preston Park where the Brighton leg of the torch relay reached its end.

Bonnie baby will be celebrating throughout the Olympic games with a 10% discount on our ‘Gold’ item of the week, to make sure that you don’t miss out and receive news of our Gold items create an account today.....

Holiday tips from Debi at BabyGoes2

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Team

Holiday season is nearly upon us 2 weeks and counting!!

If you are still to decide where to take your family this blog post from Debi at BabyGoes2 is for you, listing all her favourite family friendly resorts.

About Debi and

On becoming a mum (after 16 years in marketing and travel), Debi Green soon realised the lack for a central information resource for those travelling with babies and children, and founded Launched in April 2001, the site is entirely independant, staffed by parents, and has been featured extensively in the national press, radio and TV. Offering a comprehensive selection of holiday options worldwide, plus advice, information, tips, location reports, BabyGoes2 has become the definitive (and essential) guide for anyone travelling with children. Debi lives in Brighton with her son Roman.

Debi's accommodation tips:

A successful holiday with little ones is all about reducing potential stress and maximising relaxation possibilities. Getting the accommodation right is the first step to ensuring it's the relaxing happy experience you want and need it to be.

The main choice (camping aside) is usually between self-catering and hotel. Self-catering offers space, privacy and flexibility - but can be hard work: hotels offer plenty of facilities and services to keep everyone happy, but score lower on the space and flexibility scale. Both can work really well of course, given the right choice of villa or hotel - but there is a new breed of resort which combines the advantages of both, and is fast becoming the most sought after type of accommodation on BabyGoes2. Villa resorts cover all bases. You get to stay in a spacious, stylish well equipped villa or apartment, but with full hotel style facilities on tap, such as daily maid service (no drudgery), restaurants (no cooking), creche and kids clubs, babysitting, spa etc. It certainly works for me.

The number of luxury villa resorts is increasing each year, but of course there are still those that do it so much better than others......see below for my 2012 top 5 recommendations for stylish villa resorts with high standard accommodation, top notch service and fab facilities (plus discounted rates for BabyGoes2 visitors).

Our Mum in.....Sam and Maria go camping!!

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Team

Sam’s Biography:

Two-year-old Maria and I live in London, next to the fast and efficient Jubilee line in a leafy North West London suburb. I drive, but buses, trains and bicycles are our best friends, we like to get around. Our family has a fun-packed summer ahead, with weddings, camping trips, festivals and a little a trip to Italy in the diary. This blog will be a record of some of the fun we have. Maria loves: ice cream, sandpits, dressing-up, pirates, swimming, chocolate and dancing. As for me, when I'm not reviewing campsites, photographing travel hotspots or PR-ing events, I'm exploring, with child and sometimes husband in tow. My dislikes include: traffic, queues, housework, bad TV and 'fat days'.

Adventure One: Sam and Lucia go to a camping wedding in Wales

Wales is beautiful; the countryside is just so lush. When an invitation to a camping wedding in New Quay landed, we were deliriously excited.

Maria wearing her Bonnie baby 'MAISIE' silk special occasion dress and 'LOLA' cotton knitted cardigan.

It took seven easy hours to reach Charlie's Field, a private, grassy cliff top that looked spectacular, even in the moonlight. Our pop-up tent was ready in seconds and the fresh sea breezes soon lulled Lucia, her daddy and I into a deep sleep.

We idled away the morning on the wide stretch of beach below, making sand patties, paddling in warm rock pools and hunting for starfish. Maria had a ball.

Maria wearing her Bonnie baby 'GRETA' dress, for a fun day exploring.

Being a private campsite there were no showers on site so we went for a dip in the local swimming pool, where we changed into our wedding finery. The bride was late, allowing us time to check out the dining marquee, cocktail bar and soft play den, before settling alongside our fellow guests in front of the harp player .

Maria wearing her special occasion silk 'MAISIE' dress, just perfect for a relaxed wedding

Our friend Grace soon arrived and walked along a red carpet towards the groom. During the service and while everyone was belting out wedding ballads, Maria had one eye fixed firmly on the marquee. Inside was a cupcake wishing tree. I got stuck into a few competitive rounds of tug-of-war until I saw Maria making a beeline for the cakes. “What shall we wish for?” I asked, panting after her. “Ummm, cake,” she replied.

Many of the items that Maria wore on her camping extravaganza are now available with a great 50% OFF. CLICK HERE to see all girls items currently in sale.

Our baby and children’s spring summer collection now has 50% OFF! Below you will find our favourite picks from the sale.

Tracey – Founder and Designer

My favourite item has to ‘Grace’ a beautiful summer skirt for baby or child featuring a fun linear apple print design that looks even better when you team it with our Big apple printed t-shirt. Available in great colours, my personal favourite is the primrose yellow, a huge trend this season.

Emily – Website Manager

My favourite item from the sale has to be the ‘Gladys’ baby blanket/shawl. The lightweight fabric of this blanket makes it the perfect summer accessory, think of days at the beach, when the sun gets too much, protect your little one and keep them cool!

Beth – Bonnie baby Apprentice

I love the ‘raindrop’ hooded cardigan, it comes in three fabulous colours and the intarsia motifs are too cute. The lightweight fabric means that this is the perfect cover up for when the sun decides it doesn’t want to come out.

Ben - Sales Administrator

As one of the few men in the Bonnie baby office my favourite sale item has to be the v-neck ‘otis’ cardigan, I really like the textured knit, teamed with a Robot T-shirt this is a great staple item for any summer wardrobe.

Bec - Designer

My absolute favourite item from the sale is the ‘Anya’ confetti print playsuit, it’s nice to find items for newborns that are individual. Team this with one of the open knit ‘Ophelia’ cardigans (or buy the set) and your baby will be the best dressed in town!

Guest Blogger - Children's author Siobhan Rowden

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Team

<p>Let us introduce you to the author of the great new kids book <strong>'The Curse of the Bogle's Beard'</strong> written by Siobhan Rowden. Siobhan is local to <a href="">Bonnie baby</a> and we have been following the progression of her first book with great interest. Here Siobhan introduces her new childrens book.......................</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img src="" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Thank you for allowing me to introduce my first book, <strong>The Curse of the Bogle's Beard</strong> on the Bonnie baby guest blog spot.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">It was written when the youngest of my three children was at nursery, and I had three precious mornings to myself. I love the relationship between grandparents and children, and wanted to write about a powerful and gruesome granny who is not what she first appears to be.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The book follows 10-year old Barnaby Figg's journey as he discovers his Granny's pickling empire is built on things far more sinister than just onions. He embarks on a path to turn her away from the dark side of pickling, and learns of his bizarre ancestry, visits subterranean worlds and becomes involved in battles between good and evil that reach back through generations.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><img style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" src=",/key/05f578b7f59de40bf01c7237869ce032/" alt="" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">When I finished <strong>The Curse of the Bogle's Beard</strong> I put it away in a drawer, too scared to read it to anyone but my children. It wasn't until I mentioned it to my friend, Tracey Samuel founder of<a href=""> Bonnie baby</a>, who encouraged me to send it out into the world, that I got a publishing deal with Scholastic. The book was published in May this year, with the sequel due out in October. It's thrilling to see it on the shelves at last. Without Tracey's enthusiasm and encouragement <strong>The Curse of the Bogle's Beard</strong> could still be in that drawer! Our daughters Alice and Katie are great friends and in the same class at school. I feel very lucky to be part of such a supportive and creative local community.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">After being emerged in the fictional world of bogles, beards, pickles and all things smelly and disgusting, it's a welcome break to be here on the <a href="">Bonnie baby website</a>, where everything is beautiful, soft and luxurious. My favourite piece has to be the <a href="">cashmere blanket/shawl</a> which children never grow out of, and always want to cuddle. But with summer coming, it's very tempting to get those chubby little legs out, (I'm referring to the children-not me) and the<a href=""> cotton dungarees </a>look adorable. Along with the<a href=""> raindrop T-shirts</a>, stripey <a href="">sunhats</a>.......could be here all day.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a href=""><img style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" src="" alt="" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Our baby/child dungaree's are great for the summer, team with a T-shirt and cool sun hat.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href=""><img src=",,/key/05f578b7f59de40bf01c7237869ce032/" alt="" width="387" height="547" /></a><a href=""><br /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Our Cashmere baby blankets come in a keepsake box and make great baby gifts</span>.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong><a href="">You can purchase 'The Curse of the Bogle's Beard' by clicking here.</a></strong></span></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Have you read Siobhan's brilliant story, if so leave your comments below................</p>

Children's Parade - Brighton Festival

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

It may have been overcast in the usually sunny Brighton this bank holiday weekend, however that did not dampen the spirit of the thousands of enthusiastic local school children who take part in the opening of Brighton Festival with a colourful parade of floats, costumes, music and dance..................

Every year the opening parade is given a theme; all the local schools then turn their interpretations into a great visual display. This year’s theme was the ‘Story of stories’, what are stories used for, when are stories told are they purely to entertain or also to educate?

If you were one of the thousands of spectators watching the parade make its way through the heart of Brighton and down to the seafront you will have seen some fabulous creations, including Mother Goose, an Egyptian Sphinx,  a Giant Whale and even some Oompa-Loompas!

The Brighton Festival runs for the duration of May and adds a real buzz to the city. There are many great activities for people of all ages and children are catered for incredibly well. You will find drawing classes, interactive concerts, musical extravaganzas and plenty of storytelling. Separate from the main festival are the Artists Open Houses, Brighton Fringe Festival and The Great Escape; offering free exhibitions, many great street performances and live music.

Brighton is a great city to visit, especially with little ones. If the festival isn’t your thing,  head down to the beach and visit the iconic Brighton Pier or make the most of the unique shops on offer in Brighton’s lanes.

Bonnie baby have some great clothing for carnival season.  Take a look at this blog post; Carnival Season.

Did you watch the Children’s parade? Did your child’s school take part, if so what did they create? Are you looking forward to the rest of the festival? Leave your comments below.

April is one of those funny months, raining cats and dogs one minute and sunshine and lollipops the next. Whatever happens there never seems to be a dull moment and our Spring/Summer 2012 collection reflects this.

The transitionala months are possibly the hardest to dress for, not wanting your little one to be too warm or too cold. A handy knitted cardigan or jacket is always good to have to hand.

Here is a selection of outfits that are just perfect for these spring months:

For the boys: We have some lightweight summer denims; shorts, trousers and dungarees, choose between a fun summer blue and a more versitile grey. Team these with one of our jersey cotton T-shirts, go for contrasting stripes or brighten it up with one of our ROBOT T-shirts. When the sun comes out team with our TYLER jersey cotton sun hat and for when the weather takes a turn for the worst add one of our cotton summer knits, like FINN or OTIS, guaranteed to keep the spring chills out.

Little Liberty London

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

The iconic Liberty of London recently added a new addition to its great selection of in-store departments; after much anticipation 'Little Liberty' has launched.

Wander through a perfectly laid out store and walk up the magnificent stair cases until you reach the 3rd floor. It is here you will find the light and bright childrenswear department offering some of the best children/baby clothing brands available in the UK, including Bonnie baby.

The store is a real experience from the outset and throughout and is worth a visit.

Little Liberty has a very crafty, organic and quirky feel: the entire space is decorated in a story book style, hand drawn motifs of giant trees and wildlife which spreads out over the bespoke drawers, tables and chairs. If your little ones are tired of shopping they will surely become mesmerised in this space.

Each brand has its own little section within Little Liberty, the childrens/baby clothing is beautifully presented on specially made rails and shelving, on the end of which you will find a biography about each brand presented in fun graphics. We particularly liked the biography on Tracey Samuel, Founder and Designer of Bonnie baby.

Bonnie baby can be found in-store at Liberty London.

The children's department is a good size and has a wide variety of clothing.

Within Little Liberty you'll find items from Bonnie baby's Spring/Summer 2012 collection, printed summer dresses, printed and striped cotton T-shirts, knitted cardigans perfect for when the British weather can't make up its mind. You will also find items from our ever popular Bonnie Bundle Gifting collection which are presented in a sweet Bonnie baby  milk cartons.

Have you been to Liberty's, were you little ones enchanted by the motifs? We would love to hear your thoughts on the store in particular the new children's department, leave a comment below..................

Bonnie baby Stockist of the month - IRIS LONDON

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Team

Iris London first opened its doors in Queens Park London, back in 2005 when owner's Sarah Claassen and Annie Pollet, both local residents decided that the area needed a gorgeous place to shop, the Queens Park store was such a success that they decided to swiftly open two more London stores! One in Battersea and one in Chiswick.

Interior of Iris Queens Park

The Iris stores offer a really lovely local shopping experience to their customers with all three stores stocking great brands that would normally require a trip to central London to find. It is this aspect that has really appealed to the local Mums, especially as they combine great fashion for both adults and children, along with a friendly atmosphere and great personal customer service.

The success of the Iris stores was recently recognised when they were nominated runners up in the 'Telegraph Small Shop Awards' which were organised in conjunction with the 'Queen of the High Street' Mary Portas.

Bonnie baby launch the 'Wishlist' service

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

We are constantly looking to find ways of improving the shopping experience and make life that little bit easier for you.

This month we are launching our new WISHLIST service to make gift shopping a whole lot easier.

A wish list lets you keep track of all the wonderful pieces you would like to have from Bonnie Baby. You simply shop as you normally would, only instead of adding items to your basket you add them to your wish list. Your wish list is then saved under your account and you can access it and add to it whenever you want. You can even send it to your friends and family so they know exactly what you want for babies birthday or other special occasion!

Our wish list takes the guess-work out of present buying for family and friends - meaning no more oversized jumpers from Aunty Mabel in fluorescent pink! Perfect for baby showers, birthdays and newborn baby gift suggestions – or even just for a wish list for yourself.

How it works;

1)     Create an account with by clicking here. If you already have an account, just log in.

2)     Once you are logged in, browse the Bonnie baby website as normal.

3)     When you see an Item you love, click ‘add to wishlist’. The item is then automatically added to your wishlist. You may do this with as many items as you wish.

4)     You may add a comment next to each item; i.e. ‘This would be great for Bonnie’s Birthday’. These comments will be included on your list and will be visible to anyone that you share your wishlist with.

5)     To share your wishlist with your Family and Friends click ‘share list’; Enter the email addresses of those you would like to send your wishlist too, and then add a message i.e. ‘Dear Tracey, thank you for arranging me a baby shower, below is a list of items that I think are just beautiful for my new arrival, Best wishes, Emily’. Once you have completed your message click ‘share wishlist’.

Your wishlist can be accessed each time you login to your Bonnie baby account and can be sent as many times and to as many people as you wish.

You can also use the wishlist service to store items you love; these can be added to your basket quickly and easily the each time you shop.

If you have not heard of Bambino Goodies, we recommend taking a look at this fun, insightful blog. Natalie Lue, mum to two little girls, founded the blog in 2007 after becoming a parent. Bambino Goodies searches, finds and highlights cool stuff to see you through the first five years of family life. Published every weekday, the site has news, reviews, features, and trends and has become one of the most popular family orientated blogs in the UK.

Natalie Lue - Bambino Goodies founder.

We asked Natalie to select her top three favourite items from our Spring/Summer 2012 collection and why she thought the pieces stand out from the crowd, see Natalie’s selection below.......

Natalie's top buy 1: 'RAINY CLOUD' Cotton Playsuit/Romper

"This playsuit with its ice-cream shades, on trend clouds and raindrops and its one striped sleeve for a bit of quirk, is a great example of how you can make lighter tones chic and exciting."

Natalie's top buy 2: 'OTIS' Cotton V-neck cardigan. Also available in Kids sizes

"Mustard yellow is divine and this cardigan is a sumptuous knit that feels as good as it looks. Even though it's in the boys department, it's very nickable for girls."

Natalie's top buy 3; 'BETH' Cotton sundress. Also available in Kid's sizes

"We're not that into pink over at Bambino Goodies, but we'll always raise a salute when it’s done well. This sundress with its raindrop design is deliciously sweet for a summer party or a wedding."

The new collection was really well recieved and we can't wait to launch it online in July. Expect fun animal knits and prints, pretty denims and signature Bonnie Baby stripes.

We were incredibly pleased with the buzz generated by the Bonnie baby booth which attracted a lot of attention

Gareth Grffiths, Sales Director says...

'We would like to thank everyone that visited the Bonnie baby booth. Playtime Tokyo was an incredible success and we look forward to exhibiting in August where we will be showing our Spring/Summer 2013 collection.'

Tokyo was a new experience for many of the UK Bonnie baby team and we were all taken aback with the friendliness of the Japenese people, not to mention the food that was enjoyed in Tokyo's downtown restaurants, in particular the sushi!

Tracey visited many of the top luxury department stores on a shopping trip around the city, including some gift buying for her daughter. The Blythe Doll shop in particular was an experience!

Spring Summer 2012 - Our inspiration

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

The Spring Summer 2012 takes inspiration from the great British summer and its endless charm. One minute it’s sunshine and lollipops, the next it’s raining cats and dogs. Wait a few minutes and you’ll get fabulous rainbow across the sky – and that’s the way we like it!

Raindrops, clouds, sunshine and rainbows are major motifs running throughout: Rainbow stripped knitted sweaters and playsuits, raindrop embroidered sundresses and cloud print jersey T-shirts - all accessorized with summer hats and floaty scarves.

Pretty prints are also heavily present in the collection. A gorgeous selection of fruity apple themed prints for dresses, playsuits, tops and trousers: Scandinavian style graphic apple prints, apple blossom prints, embroidered apples – all fresh, fruity and fun.

Tracey Samuel (Bonnie baby founder and designer) Says..............

‘I had such fun designing this Spring/Summer collection, especially the prints which are a new departure for Bonnie baby. You will definitely be seeing more of this in the future.’

Don’t forget that many of the styles in this seasonal collection are now available in children’s sizes up to the age of 5 years.

Guest blogger - Georgie

Posted on in Blog by Georgie - Editor of

So my little Coco was treated to neon pink skinny jeans last weekend (that’s about as fashion forward as it gets and to balance, they’ll be teamed with a traditional white Peter Pan collar blouse) and a few new pieces from none other thanBonnie Baby of course.

I’ve long been a fan of Bonnie Baby (I’ve given more ‘Apple of Daddy’s Eye’ jumpers as new born pressies than anything else) and was thrilled to see them launch such a brilliant transactional site in time for the new season complete with a collection that’s their best yet.

The new in ‘DARWIN’ cotton shorts, ‘DREW’ Jeans and ‘DILLON’ dungarees (in Sorbet – pastel shades are rivalling neons for this season’s biggest trend) are all high on my wish list as is the ‘OPHELIA’ cardigan in primrose and powder.

I struggle to find good cardigans for Coco and Bonnie Baby is always a safe bet. For the past 9 months she has quite literally lived in the ‘KYLIE’ cardigan (one size after another) and for Spring/Summer she is already the proud owner of the’IVY’  in cream and primrose along with the matching ‘IMOGEN’ dress. And whilst warmer weather doesn’t appear to be anywhere on the horizon a pair of white tights and a warm vest (plus lots of central heating whilst my other half’s at work) means she can start to wear them now...

Thanks to Georgie at !

Keep your little one as snug as a bug!!

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

Spring/Summer 2012 collections may be hitting the stores, but all we seem to be thinking about in the Bonnie baby office is how to keep ourselves and little ones wrapped up warm. We’re opting for cashmere scarves and bobble hats to keep us snug. As for the little ones we have a wide selection of machine washable cashmere items that are just perfect for frosty days like today.

Choose between cashmere playsuits/rompers with fun bright striped designs or go for a classic plain layette cashmere playsuit/romper, then accessorise with one of our matching luxury Bonnie baby hats and baby blankets, ideal for that walk to the school gate with the buggy. If baby blankets aren’t what you need, look at our cashmere hooded cardigans andsweaters.

If you’re looking for an unusual Valentine’s Day gift for Daddy, our cashmere ‘Apple of Daddy’s eye’ sweaters andplaysuit/rompers are very popular at the moment. Let the apple of this eye melt his heart on Valentine’s Day.

Olive loves Alfie

Bonnie Baby clothes and baby blankets can obviously be found on our great new website ( ) but we also have many stockists across the world that we have great affection for. They know as much about the quality and luxury of Bonnie baby as we do and are experts in displaying and talking about them. One such beautiful and independent boutique is ‘Olive Loves Alfie’ based in North London.

Olive Loves Alfie is a unique family lifestyle store that sells children’s fashion, home-wares, toys, books and women’s wear at 84 Church Street, Stoke Newington, (North) London. The guardian agrees too, it said ‘there’s a lovely shop in London called Olive Loves Alfie..’ and if you take a look at our photos or visit their site, you’ll see exactly they mean

Olive Loves Alfie was founded in 2006 by Ashlyn Gibson, who was creative director of renowned shoe label Red or Dead. The vision was to provide an alternative to the ‘traditional gender-styled landscape of children’s retail and design’. ‘Without exception, all of the products at Olive Loves Alfie must qualify by their quality and design to have hand-me-down potential’ and this is why Olive Loves Alfie is part of the Bonnie baby family. Tracey’s designs are based on style, practicality and quality – every piece will remain in perfect condition so that other relatives or friends can use and enjoy them. Bonnie Baby Winter Range

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

Behind the scenes – Fun on Brighton beach photo shoot

This Winter at Bonnie baby is really exciting! We are delighted to announce that we have extended our size range to include luxury hats, scarves and cardigans for kids as well as babies! Now your not-so-little-one can enjoy snugly luxury with Bonnie baby as sizes now range from 0-12 months right up to 6-8 years. This means the older kids can be as stylish as the younger ones – you can either match them up or mix them up, just like Alice and Rhys in the photos..

A really nice detail of the smaller hats and scarves that we know our mums appreciate, are the button fastenings - so your baby can’t throw them from the pram and they stay put – keeping them warm. The larger sizes have fun pom-poms and tassels – we can almost guarantee that your friends will wish they came in grown up sizes too! Let us know what you think...

If the hats and scarves from our Bonnie baby Winter collection wasn’t enough, we also have a beautiful range of luxury cashmere and cotton baby blankets. These baby blankets are a winter essential for the pram, cot or car and both the cashmere and cotton wash perfectly in the machine – so they are practical too. They arrive beautifully gift wrapped with a hand written card if you choose, making a great Christmas gift. What do you buy the baby for Christmas who has everything? A beautiful Bonnie baby washable, cashmere blanket.

Get a fantastic 30% OFF our fashionable hats and scarves by entering the discount code WINTERWARMERS at the checkout when prompted.

Follow us behind the scenes at our photo shoot; we got some fantastic photographs and had a great time by the seaside at our beach hut on Brighton seafront with our resident Bonnie baby children’s-wear models Alice and Rhys. They looked great wrapped up warm in our stylish snugly knitted hats and scarves – their smiles brightened up the day and although the wind was chilly it didn’t bother them!

Bonnie baby WIN Junior Magazine Fashion Award

Posted on in Blog by Bonnie baby Ltd

Luxury babywear label Bonnie Baby has won the Designer Baby Fashion award for its first full collection, Spring Summer 2011, at the inaugural Junior Magazine Design Awards.

Since its launch in 2005, Brighton based Bonnie Baby has become one of the UK?s coolest children?s fashionwear labels, popular with celebrities and royalty alike. Celebrity fans of the label include Claudia Schiffer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jules Oliver and the Princess of Denmark. Tracey Samuel, who had a successful career as head of knitwear at Sonia Rykiel before launching Bonnie Baby, designs the label.

The Junior Magazine Design Awards celebrate excellence in design and style. Winners had to illustrate design aesthetics with superb functionality, innovation, exceptional quality and value for money.

Tracey Samuel, designer and founder of Bonnie Baby said:

?I am delighted to have won a Junior Magazine Design Award for Best Designer Baby Fashion. It is fantastic to get recognition for our label and it is made all the more special that we have won for our first full babywear collection, Spring Summer 2011. We are really proud of the collection. It is selling really well but it is also great to have the acknowledgement from Junior Magazine, the most respected British children?s fashion magazine.?

The new Bonnie Baby Spring Summer collection has captured a real sense of innocence and fun. While the mood is distinctly vintage, the pieces are brought up to date with little details ? a flash of acid colour on a broderie anglaise dress or an unusual combination of fabrics. As you would expect from Bonnie Baby, the collection combines cool, contemporary styling and great attention to detail with fantastic quality and practicality.

Yellow is a really strong for Spring Summer 2011, along with muted lilacs and dusty pinks. Key pieces include a gorgeous 1930?s silk flapper dress with knitted frills, sweet embroidered cotton dresses and playsuits, a cute range of ultra-soft lightweight denims, funky printed jerseys and a range of jersey baby basics that come packaged in a very cool milk carton.
